Amid protests ITV and Five now join Channel Four in showing a national humanitarian appeal run by The Disasters Emergency Committee, the umbrella of many well known charities including the British Red Cross, Save the Children and Oxfam.
The appeal is targeted to help raise funds for people in need of food, shelter and medicine as a result of Israel’s military action in the Palestinian area of Gaza.
However the BBC remains adamant, refusing to broadcast the appeal, stating reasons of sustaining impartiality.
Sky has stated that it will run the appeal only if all other broadcasters unanimously decide to do so.

An appeal to combat “the great human suffering still taking place in Gaza” has been blocked by the BBC, ITV and Sky, leading the government to ask the BBC to reconsider its decision.
